Red Queen Sasha: The Market Beneath the Stars
Updated Aug 14, 2026
No cargo changes hands across known space without the possibility that Red Queen Sasha already knows about it.
As second-in-command of the Pirate Clans, Sasha does not rule from a throne or command from the bridge of a warship. Her power moves more quietly: through coded manifests, sealed compartments, whispered bargains, and debts collected at precisely the right moment. She runs the black market network that binds distant outposts, drifting stations, and hidden ports into a single web of exchange.
To some, she is a broker. To others, a smuggler, spy, or executioner. The title that follows her most often is the one she earned herself—Red Queen.
A Network of Secrets
Sasha understands that information is more valuable than contraband. A missing shipment can be replaced. A lost secret can reshape an empire.
Her agents travel as traders, mechanics, couriers, and passengers with forgettable faces. They listen in crowded docking bays and watch which captains pay in advance. By the time a rival realizes their route has been compromised, Sasha has usually redirected the cargo, acquired the leverage, and arranged three profitable exits.
She keeps her own movements unpredictable. One week she may appear at a remote fuel depot in a plain flight coat; the next, her voice comes through a scrambled channel offering a deal no one else could have made. She favors clean bargains, but never confuses fairness with weakness. Every agreement has a hidden balance, and Sasha always knows which side is carrying more weight.
The Rapid Strike
Cunning is her greatest weapon, but it is not her only one.
When negotiation fails, Sasha moves quickly. Her rapid strikes are precise rather than reckless: a disabled engine, a severed communications array, a boarding team arriving before the alarms finish sounding. She prefers to win before a fight has time to become a battle.
Those who underestimate her often mistake patience for hesitation. Sasha is simply waiting for the moment when a single action can accomplish what a dozen soldiers could not. Once she commits, she leaves little room for recovery.
The Price of Order
The black market is a living thing, and Sasha keeps it alive by giving its chaos a shape. Rival clans may feud, captains may cheat, and fortunes may rise or vanish between one orbit and the next—but the network must continue moving.
That responsibility has earned her both loyalty and resentment. Merchants trust her routes because they work. Pirates respect her because she remembers every favor and every betrayal. Even enemies sometimes seek her judgment when a dispute threatens to disrupt trade across an entire sector.
Sasha never pretends to be kind. She offers something more dependable: consequences.
The Red Queen’s Gambit
Somewhere beyond the recognized lanes, a sealed convoy is preparing to cross into pirate territory. Its cargo is valuable enough to tempt every clan, and dangerous enough to destabilize the balance Sasha has spent years maintaining.
Several factions want it destroyed. Others want it stolen. A few believe they can use it to control the market themselves.
Sasha already knows the convoy’s route.
What no one else knows is whether she intends to intercept it, protect it, or let her rivals fight over a decoy while the true prize slips into her hands. For Red Queen Sasha, the most dangerous move is rarely the one everyone sees coming.
And in the darkness between the stars, the market is waiting.
